The band has had an incredible run since their debut just over a year ago, grabbing the attention of the likes of Hot Press Magazine and RTÉ 2FM, while earning spots on several Spotify playlists. They have landed major festival bookings too — including Aiken’s Forbidden Fruit and All Together Now festivals, performing on Guinness’ Lovely Days stage, and not one but two sets at Electric Picnic.

After standout performances at the Cork Jazz Festival and opening for Joy Crookes on the first night of her tour in the Olympia theatre, Avenue 68 are firmly establishing themselves as a band to watch. A danceable party-anthem rooted in growth and reflection, “Gifted Wine” is a groovy, upbeat tune with a bittersweet core. Lauren (lead singer/lyricist) describes the song as capturing the moment of clarity where she realised her own naivety, having overlooked the true nature of a relationship built on confusion and endless grey area. After the rose-tinted glasses disappear, and the frustration fades, empathy takes its place as a quiet sympathy for a partner unwilling to fully accept themself.
