Dublin-based band, Avenue 68, are the newest, freshest faces of RnB/Soul, Jazz in the city’s capital. Taking influence from artists like Eryka Badu, D’Angelo and Olivia Dean, this band explores sexuality, relationships and identity through silky smooth vocals, intricate guitar lines and melodies.

Their debut single ‘Venom’, blending elements of RnB, pop-Soul, and jazz, gained great traction for the band - reaching just under 10k streams since its release and was chosen as 2FM’s Grassroots Pick of the Week, while also being picked up by the likes of Today FM and Phoenix FM.

"Saffron" is a captivating blend of playful storytelling and heartfelt emotion, born out of an unlikely source of inspiration. The band describe the tune as having emerged from a "light-hearted conversation about the skyrocketing price of saffron", the song personifies saffron as a character—someone who, like the spice, is both beautiful and rare, yet ultimately destructive.

With its unique mix of humour and heartbreak, this tune captures the complexity of relationships, diving deeper into the exploration of love and betrayal.—how someone can be as precious and alluring as the spice, yet just as capable of leaving a bitter aftertaste.
